Coating using grooved metering bars is known as volumetric metering. During the metering process, the tips of the grooves make near-contact with the substrate or the coating roller. The precise coating volume is determined by the geometry of the grooved bar, specifically by the cross-section and spacing of the metering bar profile
On grooved metering bars, linear load serves primarily as wear compensation rather than for setting the coating volume. Ideally, after installing a new metering system, high contact pressure is applied initially, and this pressure is gradually reduced until the minimum pressure is reached. This ensures consistent coating results throughout the metering system’s maximum service life. To enhance the wear resistance of the metering bars, Hangxuan metering bars utilize a hard chrome plating process. The application method of the plating solution ensures uniform coating thickness across the entire surface, which is a significant advantage, particularly for metering bars with steep-angled geometries.
